Frequently Asked Questions

Please take the time to read the most common questions asked about our services. If you have any other questions or concerns, please let us know. Your pet’s comfort and safety are first priority. We will make every effort to ensure your pet’s grooming is pleasant, safe, and enjoyable.

  • Rabies
  • DA2PP (Distemper, Adeno Virus, Parvo Virus, Para Influenza)
  • Leptospirosis vaccine strongly recommended

Written proof of vaccinations is required before the groom and the dog must be in good health prior to your appointment. To maintain a safe, comfortable environment, your pet must be vaccinated at least 48 hours in advance. The waiting period helps ensure the pet isn’t sore at the injection site, which can cause irritability and lethargy. Puppies between 8 weeks and 4 months of age may receive services without vaccinations.

Safety comes first for everyone during the grooming process; people as well as pets. You must inform us prior to grooming if your pet has bitten someone or has aggressive tendencies. Owners will be held liable for any bites or any property damage caused by their pets. We will stop the grooming process if we feel your pet’s behaviour is compromising his safety or ours. Pro-rated charges will apply.
Grooming procedures sometimes can be stressful, especially for a senior pet or a pet with health problems, and can expose hidden medical conditions or aggravate existing ones during or after the groom.  Because senior pets and pets with health conditions have a greater chance of injury, (for example, a dog has to stand for grooming more than he/she is accustomed to standing), these pets will be groomed for cleanliness and comfort, in styles that will not add to their stress.
Removing a heavily matted coat includes risks of nicks, cuts or abrasions due to warts, moles or skin folds trapped in the mats. Heavy matting can also trap moisture near the pet’s skin allowing mould, fungus or bacteria to grow, causing skin irritations that exist prior to the grooming process. After effects of mat removal procedures can include itchiness, skin redness, self-inflicted irritations or abrasions, skin infections, and failure of the hair to re-grow. Shaved pets are also prone to sunburn and should either have sunscreen applied daily or should be kept out of the sun until the hair grows sufficiently to protect the skin.  In some cases pets may also exhibit brief behavioural changes.  As the pet owner, you are responsible for the condition of your pet’s coat.  De-matting is an additional $20 per hour, and it may not be possible to complete the groom in one appointment. Also, if the matting is severe and we feel your pet is unfit for de-matting yet you decline shaving, pro-rated charges will apply.
If my dog has fleas and/or ticks, they will be required to have a flea/tick treatment. Dog Prints will try and contact you to discuss the procedures. If you cannot be reached, an additional $20 will be added to your grooming fee to administer a flea/tick bath.
If your dog has a communicable disease, such as Kennel cough or worms, you will be required to pick your dog up immediately. Prorated charges will apply. You also may be required to pay for disinfecting the grooming premises at Dog Prints in home location.
Yes, grooming is done by appointment only both in home or mobile in your home. We do not cage animals and work one on one with your pet.
Payment can be made by cash preferably or by cheque. Payment is due at time of the groom. All NSF cheques will be subject to an NSF fee.
You can contact us through our website to request an appointment.
Please drop off your pet 5 minutes before your appointment time only. We groom dogs one on one and do not cage them. Dropping your dog earlier may interfere with the appointment before you.
Dog Prints will call you to pick up your dog approximately 20 minutes before the groom is done so it doesn’t interfere with our next client drop off time.
For grooming in my home, please follow the sidewalk to the right of the garage and come to the door at the side of the house with the wood stairs. Please knock as this door will be locked. I am not always able to leave that room if I am with a client to answer the front door. Please respect the neighbour’s lawn and have your pet do his or her business at your home before leaving.
Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours prior to your appointment (48 hours if you are booking more than one dog). You must call or text Dog Prints to cancel your appointment.
